While You Wait
If you have to wait a few hours before you can get to our office, there are some things you can do to help alleviate any discomfort you’re experiencing.
For Cracked Teeth or Toothache:
- Rinse your mouth with warm water to keep the area clean
- Use a cold compress to relieve pain
For Chipped and Knocked Out Teeth:
- Keep any teeth or pieces in a clean container or milk, or tucked inside of your cheek.
- Whole teeth will need to be re-implanted as soon as possible so the tooth can heal back into its socket.Never put aspirin on the affected tooth or surrounding gum when you have a toothache, cracked, chipped, or knocked out teeth.
An Ounce of Prevention
Sports participation can increase your chances of having a tooth knocked out or chipped. Always use a mouthguard to prevent injury. Also, never use your teeth to open packaging. This will lead to chipping and worn enamel.
